I really want to hate 18-year-old
Alexis Jordan. I do. But I can’t. Everything about her is enviable. This kid hit the genetic jackpot. She’s young, beautiful (with or without makeup) and she can sing her a*s off. Not to mention she’s incredibly, genuinely nice. If she’d told me she was rescuing refugee children in war-torn countries, I would’ve asked her to leave.
But alas, I’m a realist and reality is, Alexis Jordan is going to be a star. This newest signee to the Star Roc/Roc Nation label came into our office and charmed all of us with her poise, personality and rich, soulful voice. We were totally blown away by her a cappella rendition of her hit single “Happiness” only to be jaw-dropped by her illuminating remix of
B.o.B.’s “Airplanes.” This girl can
sang which is why I wasn’t shocked to hear she opened for
Smokey Robinson at age 12 and was a semi-finalist on
America’s Got Talent at 14. Her many YouTube videos (which have millions of views) display Alexis’s ability to perform it all—pop, R&B, even rap.
