OFFICE funny man Ricky Gervais poked fun at his controversial Golden Globes appearance with a "censored" Emmy award's message.
Comedian Ricky, 50, caused a storm in the States while hosting the Golden Globes in January with a series of near-to-the-bone jokes about some of the ceremony's celebrity guests.
But at last night's Emmys he made light of the criticism joking he'd been banned from attending the ceremony in a recorded video message.
He said: "Firstly sorry I can't be there live in person. Not allowed. Not after the Golden Globes. In fact now during an awards ceremony I'm not even allowed on American soil."
In the one-and-a-half minute sketch Ricky explained bosses warned him they'd censor any risqué material.
"Emmy bosses have told me if I say anything rude or controversial they will edit it out and you won't know the difference," he explained.
The short message is then obviously "cut" before the star can rail against the awards executives.
Emmys host and Glee star Jane Lynch also ridiculed Ricky at the end of the message.
Jane, who plays sharp-tongued Sue Sylvester on the US musical hit, added: "Oh poor little Ricky Gervais – someone didn't get enough hugs from mommy and somehow it's Hollywood's fault."
