Curls gone wild: Myleene Klass opts for Donna Summer-style hair for Popstar to Operastar as Melody Thornton is sent home

Myleene Klass tonight tried a new look as she bounded onto the stage to present Popstar to Operastar with her brunette hair teased into wild curls.
The 'do was a sharp contrast to the presenter's usual sleek appearance but worked well with her disco-style gold maxi dress.
And mother-of-two Myleene also showed off her tiny waist by cinching in the gold dress with a black corset-style belt.

Before she arrived on the stage, Myleene tweeted fans: 'Gold Lamé dress. Check. Donna Summer hair. Check. Let's go!'

However, earlier in the day, Myleene had admitted she was unsure about the style.
she tweeted a picture of the corkscrew girls and told her followers: 'Just let your 'Soul glow'. I've been promised this will be brushed out in time for tonight!'
Tonight's show saw former Pussycat Dolls star Melody Thornton sent home after head judge Katherine Jenkins decided to vote to save Toploader's Joseph Washbourn from the bottom two.
Asked how she felt about leaving, Melody replied: 'Honestly, I just tried to relax as much as possible. I'm not here for me. I want people to be inspired and to do something they don't ordinarily do.
'I think I'm not in my home here and I could have used some more support. I'm so grateful for people who did support me.
'I really want people in the world to step outside the box and do something they wouldn't usually do.'
The first performance of the evening came from Cheryl Baker.
Before taking to the stage to perform Je Veux Vivre from Romeo and Juliet, Cheryl said: 'Opera is joyous. I'm loving it, absolutely loving it.'
But, Bucks Fizz star Cheryl admitted she was unsure about getting in touch with teenage Juliet's personality, seeking help from world-famous actor and show judge Simon Callow.
After her energetic performance, Simon told her: 'That was fantastic. You have an absolute unique gift and you brought your innocence to the stage. it was fantastic.'
Katherine Jenkins added: 'Cheryl, there has been such a difference from the first week and you tackled this head on and did a great job so thank you so much.'

While Vanessa-Mae said: 'That was wonderful. You had more energy than a 14-year-old and that's impressive.'
And Rolando Villazon concluded: 'I thought that was very nice. You were singing the high notes really in the right spot but I think we need to work on giving more body to the voice.'
Next up was Toploader's Joseph Washbourn, who had narrowly avoided being voted off the show last week.
However, Joseph admitted bringing humour to Madamina, il catalogo è questo from Don Giovanni was the hardest part.
He said: 'To try and make people laugh is the hardest thing. But if I can make Katherine laugh that's good because she's quite hard on you.'
After his performance, Rolando said: 'You definitely had a great improvement from last week but I think you need to work on the colour of the voice. But overall it was very impressive.'

Simon added: 'What you did so fantastically well this time was to really use the language, you didn't seem at all shy of the Italian.'
Vanessa commented: 'Dramatically you were supposed to be putting this woman off but it turned me on to him. I think the second half you settled more into it.'
But Katherine had some complaints when she said: 'I felt like it was faster than you're used to rehearsing it and it's your job to set the tempo.'
The third act to take to the stage was former Steps star Claire Richards, who has been tipped as the one to watch on the show.
However, Claire is struggling to believe in herself, and went to see a group of young opera singers to help build her confidence.

Wearing a beautiful black sequinned dress, Claire looked nervous before she started singing Sempre Libera from La Traviata but soon settled into it.
Following the performance, Rolando said: 'I was disappointed with your last performance but with this one you were amazing, I loved it, wonderful.'
Katherine added: 'That's the performance I thought you were capable of in week one and I'm so pleased you've found your opera persona.'
Simon said: 'The confidence was absolutely staggering. It's a big sing and you gave it to us completely.'
And Vanessa concluded: 'That was super. The vocal acrobatics were stunning and you're a great example of someone who has come out of her nasal voice.'
Next up was Erasure's Andy Bell, who struggled to remember the lyrics to Non Più Andrai from The Marriage of Figaro.
Afterwards, Katherine said: 'You forgot a lot of the words there, Andy. It all unravlled and it's such a shame because I think you have such a gorgeous voice.'

And Rolando added: 'The problem about being so nervous is that sometimes you pay the price in the way you sing.'
Melody was next to perform. However, in footage shot during the week's rehearsals, Melody was seen finding it difficult to cope without her family there.
So who better to give her a boost than her former bandmate Kimberly Wyatt.
And, giving Kimberly a listen of her rendition of Mon cœur s'ouvre à ta voix from Samson and Delilah, Kimberly was reduced to tears.
Kimberly said: 'I know melody is missing home but i know she's going to perservere and she's going to shine.'
Melody then took to the stage for her performance in an extraordinarily voluminous pink ballgown and sparkling tiara.
Following the performance, Rolando said: 'There was something quite vulnerable about your interpretation.' Vanessa added: 'I was moved because I got the feeling that you really enjoyed yourself.'

And Katherine concluded: 'This aria showed your voice has developed and I thought it was very emotional and very moving. I think you did a great job.'
Last to perform was Joe McElderry, who sang La donna è mobile from Giuseppe Verdi's opera Rigoletto.
Afterwards, Vanessa said: 'You have great control when you sing and that was great.'
And Rolando added: 'I liked very much the way you sang the whole thing. You are putting that voice in the right place and that's why you were able to sing that high note.'
The popstars also performed a group number but all seemed to be struggling with singing alongside other singers as they rehearsed the Anvil Chorus.
