Best-selling star Adele's week just got better, with seven nominations at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs). It comes after she was nominated on Tuesday for the Mercury prize and immediately installed as joint favourite to win. She picked up the MTV nominations, including Video of the Year and Best Pop Video, for her single Rolling In The Deep.
Her second album, 21, is the biggest-selling album of the year. There was also a nod for folk rockers Mumford and Sons who were nominated for Best Rock Video for The Cave. Katy Perry leads the pack with nine nominations in the 14 categories with stars including Kanye West, Beyonce and the Beastie Boys also recognised. The awards will be handed out at a ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday August 28.
