Kate Winslet may not be a size zero, but that won't stop her from forging a successful modelling career.

The actress showed off her curves as the new face of U.S knitwear label St. John for their 2011 autumn campaign.

In behind the scenes footage, a smouldering Kate is shot in a series of elegant poses on stage at a theatre in New Jersey.

In video footage, entitled 'scenes of a woman', Kate declares her love for the U.S label for creating clothes that suit her 'real shape'.

Kate says: 'With St. John You can look extremely chic without trying too hard.

'You don't feel as though they are clothes that only a model would be able to wear.

'And obviously I am not a model, I don't have a model's body, I have a real shape.

'And that just means a lot to me to be able to wear clothes that do embody that message of strength and power and femininity in a real shape.'

The Titanic actress was hired to replace redhead model Karen Elson.

Angelina Jolie was previously the face of the label but it was reported she 'overshadowed' the brand.

When hiring Elson, CEO Glenn McMahon told WWD: 'We wanted to make a clean break from actresses and steer away from blondes and cleanse the palette.'

But it looks as though McMahon is now eating his words after hiring the 'blonde' actress.

Retouching: The actress loves St. John for creating clothes for 'real women'

Creative director George Sharp said: 'She is an accomplished, beautiful woman with an extraordinary body of work, and one of the most admired actors of her generation.

'She embodies the modern sensibility of St John, she is contemporary and authentically captures the style of the St. John woman.'

Meanwhile, Kate hopes to set an example for her ten-year-old daughter, Mia, by showing her that she 'can have it all.'

She says: 'I'm very much inspired by mothers, women who can pull it all together, do it all.

'Those are the women who are setting examples to a future generation of young women and that's what I'm trying to do for my daughter.'
