After breaking off a long-term relationship, it is always hard to jump back into the dating game.

And that's exactly how Cowboys & Aliens star Olivia Wilde feels after splitting with her husband of seven years.

The newly single 27-year-old has revealed she is struggling to get to grips with the new rules dating after being married her whole adult life.

Wilde, who has been linked to Justin Timberlake, Bradley Cooper and Ryan Gosling since her split, told Nylon magazine: 'Dating is new to me.'

She says it has especially hard in the modern world, where much communication is done via cell phones and email.

'I see the whole thing like someone who's been in a coma and I've come out like, 'Wait, people text message? They text love? How do you text about love??' she said.

Her comments come as she recently told Marie Claire that dating is like 'entering a shark pool.'

'I'm trying to be adult, entering the shark pool of dating. But I'm hopeless at it,' said.

In the Nylon interview, Wilde also insists she has put on a few pounds since her marriage ended, saying her 'fat jeans' are now not so loose any more.

'I got a divorce and self medicated with food,' she said. 'But I figure that's better than self-medicating with crack cocaine.'

But if the actress has gained any weight, it is hardly noticeable.

The Hollywood star also admits to having a crush on Bond star Daniel Craig.

The House stunner, who split from her husband in March after being married since she was 18, found fond feelings for Craig while filming Cowboys & Aliens, comparing his 'luminosity' and 'saltiness' to Steve McQueen.

'He is so fine and he doesn't even know it,' she said.

'He's such a goof, but he has a confidence that allows him to shine.

'In the way that Steve McQueen stole every single scene in The Magnificent Seven, Daniel has that kind of luminosity because of his energy and the kind of saltiness that I think is an important quality of acting.

'I think that the reason that he redefined Bond is because he has a dirtiness to him. It looks like he has been in bar fights. He's windblown.'

Wilde also admired her other co-star in the movie, Harrison Ford.

'Harrison is the s***!," she gushed. 'I was so nervous every time I spoke to him, but he was always cool to me.'

And it's not just her latest movie that left her loving her co-stars - she also speaks as highly as possible of House leading man Hugh Laurie.

Calling him 'the coolest man alive', she added of Hugh: 'He's sweet, he's humble, and he's as smart as hell!'

With all the talk about the other men in her life, Olivia still finds time for her ex-husband with the two spotted on a day out together this week.

The former couple got together in Venice, California after Olivia had spent lunch with a friend at the Rose 76 restaurant.

Though it's not clear why they met up with each other the assumption would be that, although they have now split, the couple have remained friends.

An unusual state of affairs for most relationships which tend to end on bad terms.

The actress' relationship with her ex-husband was never run-of-the-mill.

They got engaged at Burning Man, a hedonistic festival held annually in the Nevada Desert.

Olivia was just 18 at the time, while Tao was 26.

They later married in secret on a school bus, continuing to occupy the bus in rural Virginia as part of their bohemian lifestyle.

She explained to Marie Claire: 'We got engaged at Burning Man and married on a school bus. We were not conventional.'

Olivia had earlier told Playboy magazine: 'The bus was the only place we could be completely alone. The wedding was a secret, and we wanted to do it someplace where we could hide with our best friends.

'It was all about the intimacy of the promise we were making. We were hippies. We lived on that bus for months.'
