Rihanna has revealed her dating secrets - and says the laws of attractions are just the same as those of the hunter and his prey - though she sees herself as a hunter too.

Although remaining coy on whether or not she's courting, the 23-year-old S&M singer says men like the thrill of the chase when it comes to pursuing a mate - and she likes to keep them on their toes too.

Talking in the new issue of Cosmopolitan magazine, she said: 'I’m open to love. But guys should have to earn it. Because the minute they get it, they want something else.

'Men are like hunters; they like the chase. So you have to keep ’em guessing. Actually, I’m like that too. I get bored quickly. So if someone can make me laugh, that’s the best.'

She also revealed that she struggles to reveal her softer side, saying: 'For me, it’s tougher to
be vulnerable than to be tough.'

However, Rihanna added that she found it easier to become romantically involved with somebody who also worked in showbusiness as they understood how her life worked.

She explained: 'It can definitely be intimidating to guys to date someone in this industry. And it’s really hard to find a guy who doesn’t care about that stuff.

'Right now, it’s easier just having my career to focus on.'

However, the Bajan star said that she didn't have a specific type.

She mused: 'I’m turned on to a guy by different things. It could be the way he looks. It could be his intelligence. It’s really a spontaneous thing.'

Rihanna for August Cosmopolitan

The singer, who stars on the cover of the August issue of Cosmopolitan UK in a typically sexy crop-top bustier and hot pink shorts, opens up in the interview about the aftermath of the domestic violence incident concerning her ex, singer Chris Brown.

Rihanna said it had been a dark episode for her.

She said: 'It was a very aggressive and defensive time, and that allowed me to start not giving a shit. I walked around with a very f***-you attitude. I’ve always been good at masking my emotions.

'Anytime I didn’t want to deal with how I felt, I’d put up my guard. But I’ve started not doing that.'

Meanwhile, Rihanna is gearing up to play the V Festival next month.

She plays both the Chelmsford and Staffordshire sites, with Weston Park on 20 August and Hylands Part on 21 August.

She then returns to the UK to kick of the UK and Ireland leg of her Loud tour the month after, beginning with three nights at the Belfast Odyssey Arena on 29 September-1 October.

She also plays London, Liverpool, Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham and Newcastle.
