MOBO Award Nominations - Jessie J leads with 5 nominations

Jessie J leads the pack with five MOBO Award nominations... and will battle it out against Adele in three categories

She wowed America with her performance at the MTV VMA’s on Sunday and returning home to the U.K. Jessie J was delighted to learn she has scooped five MOBO nominations.

The 23-year-old singer is up for Best Album, Best Newcomer, Best UK Act, Best Video and Best Song.

The Price Tag swinger, who only arrived back in the U.K. today tweeted: ‘What amazing news to come home to!! :D wooo hooo!’

Jessie, who is set to perform at the awards ceremony in October, will be up against Adele, who has four nominations, in the Best UK Act, Best Album and Best Song categories.

Speaking about her five nominations she said: ‘I am so honoured to be nominated. I have watched so many of the artists I look up to being nominated, winning awards and performing.

‘It's amazing to be in the company of such amazing talent.’

Earlier this year Jessie scooped the highly regarded Critics Choice award at the BRIT Awards.

Tinie Tempah and Wretch 32 are also up for four awards a piece alongside Adele.

Speaking at the nominations launch at St Pancras Renaissance Hotel in London Wretch 32 said: 'I grew up watching the MOBO Awards, so to be nominated for even just one award feels overwhelming. I was going to attend the awards anyway but now I'll be at a table - ah yeah!'

Beyonce Knowles, Rihann, Snoop Dog and Bruno Mars are up for the Best International accolade.

Dappy and Fazer of NDubz fame, were at the launch after being nominated for Best UK Act.

And it wasn't just the nominated bands who turned out to the event last night but a whole host of familiar faces from the music industry.

Tinchy Stryder and X Factor rejects Belle Amie also attended the party.

Lauren Goodger and Lauren Pope of TOWIE were also at the launch along with Frederik Ferrier from Made In Chelsea and Jessie B from E4's Dirty Sexy Things.

The ceremony, which recognises music of black origin in the UK, will be hosted by Jason Derulo on October 5 in Glasgow.
