Lewis Hamilton has revealed that he still loves Nicole Scherzinger and still hopes they could get back together.

The Formula One star and the pop singer split up last month after four years together as the strain of barely seeing each other took its toll.

It is understood that Hamilton's failure to commit to starting a family further undermined their relationship and forced them apart.

The break-up resulted in Hamilton adopting a negative attitude and, combined with poor results and incidents on the track, the 26-year-old has cut a forlorn figure for a number of weeks.

That appeared to be underlined this week when pictures were published of what looked like a frosty reunion in a Los Angeles car park between him and X-Factor judge Scherzinger.

But as he prepared for this Sunday's final race of the season in Sao Paulo, he said that could not be further from the truth.

Sporting a long black set of rosary beads overlaid with white gold given to him by his ex as a present in LA, Hamilton said of the photographs: 'Well, they didn't catch us at the best of times.

'What you didn't see is that we had a really good week, a couple of really nice lunches together. We had a really nice dinner together.

'It's very early days and we still have very strong feelings for one another. I still love her very much.

'So, who knows? Maybe we will be together in the future.'

Hamilton's trip to the United States also included a visit to New York in which he 'got to hang with Mary J Blige, Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz in the studio, which was really cool'.

Hamilton could now not be more upbeat ahead of the weekend, saying: 'I'm very much here in a positive frame of mind.

'I am very happy to be here, I've great memories of being here in the past.

'Actually she (Scherzinger) was here with me when I won the world championship (in 2008), so I've very good memories.

'But certainly it was a really positive few days which meant more to me than a race win, so I came away from LA feeling great and things are different, so that's cool.

'I've a lot of positive energy at the moment.'

The hand in his pocket said it all.

As Nicole Scherzinger leaned in to embrace her ex-boyfriend Lewis Hamilton with a warm hug, the F1 driver kept his distance, not reciprocating the gesture.

The tense encounter made a sorry sight in a Los Angeles car park.

It appeared that while Nicole was making an effort to break the palpable ice, Lewis was having none of it, and maintained a stand-offish demeanor.

The 26-year-old stared at the ground during most of their meeting.


Nicole's eyes tried to meet his gaze, but Lewis continued to look away, brushing off her anguished looks.

The couple — whose four year relationship ended last month — shared an awkward silence as they seemed caught at odds.

And when Lewis kept his hand in his pocket as Nicole attempted a reconciliatory hug the excruciating atmosphere became unbearable.

A dejected Lewis walked away past a shopping mall, Nicole's hurt eyes burning a hole in his back.

His mood was a total contrast to that of two weeks ago, when he triumphed at the season's penultimate F1 race in Abu Dhabi.

Lewis split with U.S. X Factor judge and former Pussycat Doll Nicole, in October after four years.

Reports said he wasn't ready to settle down and have children.

'I'm not ready for a family,' Hamilton is said to have told friends.

A source told the Daily Mirror: 'Lewis decided they had to part. She wanted more than he could offer at this stage in his life.'

Back in 2009 Nicole told the paper: 'I am the happiest I have ever been. Lewis is such an amazing, humble and chivalrous guy. We would love to have beautiful angel babies together one day.'

Lewis spoke to the paper about the split but confirmed the pair are still friends.

He said: 'Yeah, we're friends at least and we can move forward. It's never easy going through tough times.

'It's these kind of times that are sent to try you, and it's about how you pull through them.

Tellingly, both Nicole and Lewis have maintained a professional front over the last few days, making no public mention of their meeting.

Each has focused on their own business commitments, with Nicole tweeting a picture of Shape magazine- which she is currently on the cover of- and Lewis of himself on a Rebok shoot.

Nicole recently opened up to Shape about how she has learned to accept her body after years of doubt over her appearance.

'I started jogging and counting calories when I was just 14. I've been on every diet you can imagine,' she admitted.

'By the time I was in the Pussycat Dolls, I was on the scale all the time. It became my enemy because I noticed that when I exercised really hard, I'd gain weight.'

Still very slender, Nicole has nevertheless learned to go a little easier on herself nowadays.

'Now that I'm in my 30s, I've stepped off the scale - I just go by how my clothes fit,' she said.

'I'm more accepting of my body and have learned to really embrace it. It's all about finding balance,' she continued.

'My new motto is: "Stay active, eat everything in moderation, and stop being so tough on myself".'

She's had a difficult few weeks following her split from Lewis Hamilton.

And it seems the stress has taken its toll on Nicole Scherzinger, who displayed her tiny waist and skinny legs as she arrived at London's BBC studios today.

The 33-year-old singer donned a wild patterned dress as she paid a visit to Radio 1, coupled with a pair of Lady Gaga-style heel-less shoes.

While Nicole has never been on the larger side, the former Pussycat Dolls star was noticeably slimmer as she smiled and waved to photographers, signing autographs as she made her way into the BBC building.

 

Nicole's garish dress comprised various materials, including netting around her collarbone area and bits of string keeping the sides together.
Meanwhile on her feet she wore a pair of beige shoes with a black angular pattern on them, believed to be by Giuseppe Zanotti.

Nicole has been touted as Kelly Rowland's replacement this weekend, after it was announced that the Destiny's Child star will be staying in Los Angeles where she is laid up with a throat infection.
The singer has been scheduled to perform on the show, but observers believe she may also use her experience as a judge on the U.S. X Factor to stand in for Kelly this weekend.
She also appeared on This Morning, arriving at ITV's studios appearing to be in much better spirits than she had yesterday, when she appeared upset and subdued as she walked through Heathrow airport.

Lewis Hamilton and Nicole Scherzinger have split up.

The 26-year-old F1 racing driver - who is seven years younger than his girlfriend - decided to call time on their relationship because their conflicting work schedules meant they were seeing less and less of each other.

The sportsman and Miss Scherzinger - who rose to fame as part of The Pussycat Dolls pop group - had been dating for four years.

A friend said: 'Yes, they've split. It's a real shame because Nicole really tried to make it work.

'They are still very good friends and it was an amicable split, but they just decided it was impossible to keep the relationship going with such conflicting work schedules.'


The Hawaiian-born singer is part of the judging panel on X Factor USA, alongside Simon Cowell.

As a result, she is based in Los Angeles, California.

Hamilton, meanwhile, travels all over the world as one of the leading drivers in F1 and has a home in Switzerland.

Yesterday, he was at an event for his driving team McLaren.

A source told how he was in 'good spirits' at the event.

The couple met at the European Music Awards in Munich in November 2007, before going public at the Monaco Grand Prix six months later.

Miss Scherzinger, 33, was by his side as he was crowned world champion in Brazil in November 2008.

But they spent increasing amounts of time apart due to their busy careers.

In July there was unconfirmed speculation the couple had become engaged.

The couple split in January 2010 when they had been together for 20 months.

Following the break up, Hamilton told the Daily Mail: 'I just want to move forward in a positive manner. The focus is on this season and doing the best I possibly can and getting the results on the track. I’m just keeping my mind on that.

'It never was a distraction but I am not going to take my mind off what I’ve got to do by thinking about it.'

Speaking of their relationship recently, Hamilton said: 'We go to the gym together quite often and she goes running with me. She does her own programme and I do mine and it’s pretty cool.'

A spokesman for Hamilton declined to comment.

She's had to shrug off rumours of a split with her boyfriend Lewis Hamilton recently as well as juggling a hectic work schedule.

But Nicole Scherzinger couldn't look any more relaxed in these photos, taken on the set of her new video for single Try With Me.

In one of the shots the Pussycat Doll stares longingly into the distance, possibly picturing the love of her life - her Formula 1 beau, Lewis.

In another she sits on a concrete ledge, staring up into the skies and smiling with a headband made from leaves wrapped around her head.

The video was shot in the rainforest around remote Mexican village Xilitla.

The 33-year-old only had 18 hours to do the shoot between judging duties on the U.S. X Factor as Simon Cowell keeps his employees on a strict schedule.

In fact, Nicole had to film her last video in a car park near the show's LA studios to fit it into her schedule.

Xilitla is a beautiful area of Mexico which plays host to a series of surrealist sculptures by Edward James, the eccentric English poet and artist, and patron of the Surrealist movement.

Nicole has been noticeably absent from his side at the Korean and Japanese events in recent weeks, again likely to be the result of her busy work schedule.

But that hasn't stopped the rumour mill from churning allegations of a split between the singer and her partner Lewis Hamilton.

She is required in Los Angeles where live shows on the X Factor are about to kick off, but found time to jet to New York last week to appear on Good Morning America.

'Of late, their schedules have proven pretty unworkable and they have not been able to see as much of one another as they would have liked,' a source claimed the Mirror.

'They still speak on the phone but this isn’t the same as face to face contact and things have been rough for the past six weeks.

'Both want it to work but it’s fair to say things are rocky. But they have rowed before and worked things out. As far as both are concerned, there is still hope.'

She’s been jet-setting around the world from London to Las Vegas, so it’s no surprise Nicole Scherzinger needed a sugar-kick to boost her energy levels.

The singer and X Factor USA judge was spotted sucking on a red lollipop, which matched her belted leather dress, while in Sin City.

She was walking the red carpet at the Chateau Nightclub and Gardens at Paris Hotel and Casino, where she posed provocatively with the sweet snack.

The 33-year-old made the whirlwind trip to Nevada after having flown into London from Los Angeles on Monday for a few days to promote her latest UK single Wet.

She later updated her followers again by tweeting: ‘And I haven’t forgotten abt my UK fans! I’ll be back in London 2 perform at the opening of Westfield Stratford City on Sept 13!’

Despite Lewis and Nicole constantly looking happy in love when they’re pictured together, the driver has insisted that they’re not engaged.

The Country Grammar star, 36, was far more casually dressed than the former Pussycat Doll though and arrived in trainers and a baseball cap.

For most of us Tuesday afternoons are spent toiling away in the office.

So you'd think Nicole Scherzinger would have a hint of a smile after being treated to lunch in Beverly Hills during working hours.

But the former Pussycat Dolls singer had a face like thunder as Lewis Hamilton, 26, drove them away from E Baldi.

Looking painfully thin with protruding shoulder bones, perhaps the X Factor USA judge was upset because her other half got to tuck into the Italian delicacies but she was forced to have a salad.
Or maybe she was annoyed at the choice of vehicle the British Formula One driver had picked for their day out, hoping he would have selected another model from his array of motors in the garage.

Either way, the Dancing With The Stars 2010 winner, 33, has plenty to smile about.
Her notoriety is about to rocket as she is certain to become a household name across the world when she sits next to Simon Cowell on the panel for the first ever US version of the UK reality show.

After winning the Hungary Grand Prix and driving in his 200th Grand Prix, Jenson Button was on top of the world today.

And after clinching pole position in Budapest, the 31-year-old was certainly sharing the love as he joined his girlfriend and teammate Lewis Hamilton for a group hug.

As he joined the McLaren team for a group celebration, Button and Michibata were pulled together by an over-enthusiastic Hamilton.

With Button still in his white driving uniform, he was surrounded by the McLaren team, Michibata and his father John all wearing the familiar red McLaren T-shirts.

Despite being surrounded by dozens of people, affectionate Button was spotted sharing a few kissing with his stunning Japanese model girlfriend.

After pipping Germany's Sebastian Vettel to the post, Button's win is his second of the season.

He wrote on his Twitter page: 'Woohoo!! I think that win deserves a little celebration! What do u think!?

'Big love to the whole of #TeamButton for all there support. #winners ;-))

Hamilton himself didn't too badly, ending up in fourth place, but was clearly still feeling high from winning the Spanish Grand Prix the previous weekend.


He said today: 'Jenson was pushing me hard the whole race and the better man won today.

'I was struggling a lot with the graining on my left front tyres. I don't know whether that was my fault by pushing too hard....

'We can definitely say the team has done a fantastic job and for us to have been the most competitive cars this weekend means we go into the break in good spirits.'
Button's success on the track comes after he was targeted by computer hackers who posted a message on the Formula One star's website claiming he had been injured in a car crash.
The message appeared as a news story on www.jensonbutton.com and said that he was in a 'serious condition' in hospital in Hungary following an accident.

His management were alerted to the message just before midnight on Saturday and quickly removed the post, replacing it with a new one.

'Suffice to say Jenson is safe, well and tucked up in bed looking forward to tomorrow's race, starting from 3rd on the grid.

'We can only apologise for any alarm this may have caused.'

Button also reassured his fans by Tweeting on Sunday morning: 'Morning everyone I'm sure you've realised by now but someone hacked into my website last night, I'm completely fine and on my way to #200.'

He added: 'The guy who did it obviously didn't have any better offers on a Saturday night so stayed home to do that instead #getsomefriends.'

A spokesman for Button told the BBC: 'The story is completely untrue and is a very distasteful hoax.

'The website was immediately taken down and its security will now be reviewed. Jenson was asleep in bed when we were made aware that someone had hacked into his site and made the untrue claims.

'We can assure people that he is completely fit and healthy and will be taking part in today's race.'
