Katherine Jenkins has asked her fans around the world NOT to buy her new album.

The Welsh mezzo-soprano, 31, said she didn't want them to 'feel conned' when they realised One Fine Day had no new music on it.

The album is being released later this year by Universal - under the classical wing Decca - which Katherine left in 2008.

She signed a £5.8million deal with Warner Brothers which at the time was the biggest classical recording deal in history.

Since then, Universal has released two compilation albums of Katherine's music during her time at the label. The Ultimate Collection was released in 2009 and the Sweetest Love, earlier this year.

She said on Twitter yesterday: 'Just heard that Universal @DeccaRecords are putting out YET ANOTHER compilation album of my music called One Fine Day.

'Considering that I haven't recorded 4them since 2008,there is NO new music & it's stuff u already have.Don't want u 2 feel conned.Pls RT #DontBuyOneFineDay.'

She then encouraged fans to buy her new album which comes out in October under Warner Bros. instead.

'The NEW album featuring all newly recorded tracks (out on Warner Bros) is called Daydream. Make sure you get the right one! #Daydream'

WalesOnline reported that when asked about its latest release, a spokesman for Decca did not comment on Katherine's outburst.

It said: 'Decca is delighted to be releasing a new collection of favourite Katherine Jenkins songs this autumn, coupled with a special bonus DVD, to celebrate her extraordinary ongoing career and artistic progression.'

Welsh music promoter John Rostron, told the website the practice 'happens all the time', most recently when Radiohead parted ways with EMI and the label re-packaged and re-released their back catalogue.

'Unfortunately for Katherine it is a downside to signing yourself to a major record label. You have to do it to get the support you need to grow as an artist but unfortunately there is a penalty for that.

'I expect when she was first starting out someone would have warned her about it, but at the time you are always too excited to imagine you would ever part from your record label. But it’s like a marriage – sometimes they don’t work out.'

The singer - who is set to perform alongside opera star Placido Domingo next month - is making plans for her wedding to former Blue Peter presenter Gethin Jones.

The pair are yet to reveal the venue for the big day but they are expected to pick somewhere in Wales.

The couple live together in a £4.7 million house in South West London.
