Early favourite before the show's even started: X Factor frontrunner Janet Devlin is already secret YouTube sensation

The revamped X Factor hits our screens tomorrow night - and a shy 16-year-old who is set to wow the judges is already being tipped for success.

Janet Devlin takes the stage before new judges Tulisa Contostavlos, Kelly Rowland and Gary Barlow, as well as old hand Louis Walsh, to perform a version of Ellie Goulding's take on Elton John's Your Song - and gets a standing ovation.

Dressed in a fluffy long cardigan with letters of the alphabet knitted into it, she appears to be so nervous she has to be coaxed onstage.

However, afterwards - and with the judges on their feet - former Destiny's Child star Kelly proclaims: 'You are such a star.'

Louis also reckons: 'I don't think you have any idea how good you are,' with Gary adding: 'It was such a wonderful audition.'

Janet has already won plaudits and thousands of hits for YouTube postings showing the bashful blonde performing Matt Cardle’s triumphant track from last year, When We Collide by Biffy Clyro, as well as a version of Adele's Someone Like You.

Meanwhile, one X Factor wannabe has a crack at fame this year by baring his behind for the judges.

Cheeky 18-year-old Frankie from Brighton came back from a working holiday in Malia, Crete, to compete in the ITV1 show.

The teenager told the panel he had the names of seven different girls he met on holiday tattooed on his backside and then bared all to prove it.

At least one judge, Kelly, was impressed.

She said: 'He came on, he showed his a**. You've got to love that.'

His performance of Valerie impresses the crowd as well making him another early favourite.

The judges also had to cope with another act that was literally sick with nerves.

But Hong Kong-born Goldie recovered to put on a performance that was half Tina Turner and half lap dancer - and certainly left an impression on Gary Barlow.

He said: 'It's been a long time since I had a stranger's leg around my neck. Listen, I loved it, but you're wasting your time with Louis.'

However, there is trouble on tomorrow's show - as Mail Online reported earlier this year - when 19-year-old George Gerasimou from London, confronts Tulisa.

The new X Factor judge, 22, had stopped wannabe George Gerasimou's audition at London's 02 Arena when he suddenly made a lunge for her and starting screaming abuse and calling her a 'scumbag'.

Security staff immediately rushed to the N-Dubz star's defence and intervened to gasps from the 10,000 audience.

He goes up behind the judges desk and rants: 'This is who's replace Cheryl Cole, some scumbag, what a stupid b****.'

After the palaver surrounding Cheryl Cole’s Geordie twang not being understood in America, Kelly Rowland now apparently can’t understand England’s regional accents.

The former Destiny’s Child singer reportedly had trouble understanding the Brummie accent at the Birmingham X Factor auditions this week.

The American star is said to not have realised how many variants there are in the English language.

Her confusion comes after months of debate over whether Kelly’s predecessor, Cheryl Cole, who has a strong Newcastle accent, would be recognisable to American audiences in the US X Factor.

Cheryl’s accent debacle was put to rest last week though when the decision was made that she would no longer be a judge in the US version of the talent show.

But after reportedly being devastated following her axing from the show, yesterday the Girls Aloud star said she was finally moving on, according to The Sun.

The 27-year-old apparently told current judges Louis Walsh and Gary Barlow that she is over it.

The Take That star Gary told the tabloid yesterday: ‘I think she has turned a corner now. I would say she is going places.

‘She’s an ambitious girl and she’ll get over this, no questions.’

Louis, 58, added: ‘She’s fine. There’s no bitterness there, not with me anyway.’

And Miss Cole seems to be supporting Tulisa despite being dumped by the show and reportedly sent her a huge bouquet of flowers on her first day.

A source told the Daily Mirror: ‘They arrived at the hotel the morning of the first auditions, with a message saying: ‘Good luck with your first X Factor experience. Love Cheryl xx’.

Apparently the N-Dubz star thought it was sweet and tweeted yesterday: ‘Amazing day at the xfactor, I want 2 thank every1 4 the support!’

Meanwhile, although Kelly might be having trouble understanding some of the contestants, she is making waves with her style sense.

The 30-year-old looked stunning yesterday in a floor-length Diane von Furstenberg dress.

Kelly and fellow judge Tulisa dazzled and divided fans on day one of the X Factor auditions with their bold style statements.

N-Dubz star Tulisa was first to emerge from the judges' Birmingham hotel, in a mini-dress with a neon pink print and matching heels.

The dress, by Olivia Rubin from her S/S 2011 collection, featured an asymmetrical hemline and peekaboo neckline trimmed in pink.

The clingy fabric showed off the 22-year-old's slim figure and long legs.

Kelly also chose a print look with a floaty maxi dress. The tan and black print matched her handbag and wedge heels.

Both women wore their dark hair long and poker straight for the second round of auditions, and Kelly added enormous silver hoop earrings.

Tulisa appears to be settling in to her new role well. She tweeted last night: 'Thanks 4 making me feel at home! Lots of love T. X'

Gary Barlow followed the female judges, stopping to sign fans for the gathered fans.

Gary, 40, spoke out on former judge Cheryl Cole yesterday, telling reporters: '‘I’m sad that she’s gone, but do you know what, she will move on to something else.

‘I know Cheryl quite well and she is an ambitious girl, she’s very together and she’ll get over this no question.’

But Miss Contostavlos seemed less keen to discuss her predecessor, saying: ‘The Cheryl thing is a mystery to me.’
