All she wants for Christmas! Miranda Kerr models the lingerie husbands should be buying this season

It can be difficult for husbands to choose the perfect lingerie for their wives' Christmas presents.

But who better than stunning Australian model Miranda Kerr to give them some tips on the best smalls to pick out.

The 28-year-old model had stripped off for her sexiest Victoria's Secret shoot yet, donning a selection of figure-flattering underwear for the pictures.

And the shots will no doubt also please her own husband Orlando Bloom, who no doubt has the toughest job of all - choosing underwear to buy for an underwear model.

As well as the lingerie Miranda models, from pink lace and printed red bras and knickers, to a black body and chic nude and black lace number, she is also seen modelling clothes from the US retailer, showing off her figure in a tight pair of skinny jeans and low-cut floral cardigan.

Miranda has been working for Victoria's Secret since 2007, when she became the company's first ever Australian Angel.

And talking about why she likes collaborating with the lingerie and clothing company, Miranda said recently: 'They're about promoting a healthy body image and a curvaceous image so, you know, it’s good, it’s good for us.

'But I do think it’s important for anyone to have [an] exercise regime because then they feel better about themselves.

'It’s just as much a mental thing as it is a physical thing.'

Talking about her eating plan recently, Miranda said: 'The first step is eating healthy. I predominantly eat organic when I can.

'I eat extremely healthy because when I do, I have more energy.

'I love spinach, avocado, lots of greens and broccoli. I'm pretty much 80 percent healthy, 20 percent indulgent, because I don't believe in depriving yourself.'

Miranda, Orlando and son Flynn were seen arriving in her home country of Australia earlier this week to spend the festive season with her family.

The pair have also been spotted stocking up on some last-minute Christmas presents and food for the big day at Valla Beach's Centro Toormino, where they shopped in Woolworth and K-Mart.

Local resident Pauline told local newspaper the Coffs Coast Advocate: 'All the check-out workers at Woolies had big smiles on their faces, and when we went to KMart they said they'd been there too.'

2011 was another year of wacky celebrity baby names - but what 'outrageous' choices will stars make for 2012's new arrivals?

While 2011 has been yet another year of kooky celebrity monikers, it's 2012's most highly anticipated new year babies that are already getting name commentators excited.

Perhaps most famous is Beyonce's and Jay-Z's progeny - and, though not due until February, the baby's name is the speculation of experts at Nameberry.com.

Expectations are high - with the invented Jay-Z and highly unusual Beyonce for parents' names, both of which are identifiers enough without surnames attached, Pamela Satran of Nameberry says she thinks 'it'll be something really outrageous.'

It's all in an name: Beyonce, due in February, has name exerts guessing as to what she and husband Jay-Z may choose for their celebaby
It's all in an name: Beyonce, due in February, has name exerts guessing as to what she and husband Jay-Z may choose for their celebaby

Ms Satran told MailOnline: 'I'm curious to see whether they'll invent a new name for their baby. I'm really excited to see what it is.'

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck's son, due in January, is another baby in utero whose name already has those in the know guessing.

Choosing Violet and Seraphina for their two girls, his parents, according to to Ms Satran, 'have proved themselves to be baby naming masters.

'They picked obscure, unknown, old names and we've seen them zoom up the charts over the last five years.'

She says she and colleagues are excited to see what their next choice will be, her best guess for the baby boy something in the same vein: 'I think they'll choose an old name, something surprising, cool and right.'

Whatever it may be, the name is sure to be imitated over and over, she says.

Not long now: A heartily pregnant Jennifer Garner spotted Christmas shopping last week. Experts expect her son's name, like her past name choices, will spark a new trend
Not long now: A heartily pregnant Jennifer Garner spotted Christmas shopping last week. Experts expect her son's name, like her past name choices, will spark a new trend

An overview of the year's celebrity baby names reveals a motley selection of unusual, often attention-grabbing choices.

Intentional or not, some name combinations have saluted bygone stars. As Ms Satran and colleague Linda Rosenkrantz say: 'Celine Dion appears to have inadvertently saluted stiff 1930’s operetta star Nelson Eddy with the combined names of her twin boys, while Niki Taylor (possibly unknowingly) paid tribute to Rex Harrison, the star of My Fair Lady.'

They have pointed out a mini-me moment, with Mike Myers' son's name choice: 'Mike and Spike? Really? Spike may be a rhyming tribute to his dad, yes, but also - we have to say - more often the name of a snarling bulldog or a Dead End Kid.'

The biggest trend seems to be the laudable search for personal meaning in names. So, where some celebs have delved into family history for inspiration - take 30 Rock's Tina Fey's referencing of her Greek ancestry when deciding upon Penelope Athena, for one - others have looked no further than... their decorative floor rugs for that a-ha moment.

'I like the overall trend of people looking for meaning in names. I'm more supportive of people looking for meaning in family than in rugs'

'Yes, it was room décor that inspired the name of Monroe’s twin brother—specifically the Moroccan-inspired décor of the top tier of Carey's New York apartment, the so-called Moroccan Room in which Cannon proposed,' explains the Nameberry founders.

'I like the overall trend of people looking for meaning in names. I'm more supportive of people looking for meaning in family than in rugs,' said Ms Satran.

Some of the more questionable options from the past year include Mirabella Bunny, daughter of Bryan Adams; and Bear Blu, son of Alicia Silverstone.

A hoard of gender-benders have put new twists on old names, such as Arlo, daughter of Johnny Knoxville and son of Toni Collette, Martha Stewart’s granddaughter Jude, Mariah Carey’s daughter Monroe, and quarterback Peyton Manning’s little girl Mosley Thompson.

Unsurprisingly, it's the more conventional names that have seen uptake among the general public, with Arabella, after Ivanka Trump's daughter, and Flynn, after Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom's son enjoying popularity on the names site.

Then there are some names that only the really physically blessed can pull off.

'Agnes Lark is not a conventionally attractive choice,' says Ms Satran of Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany's daughter.

'I probably wouldn't choose it but if you're Jennifer Connelly and you're sure your child is going to be beautiful, you might.'

'Let’s be honest, the kid is sure to be gorgeous, which will do much for Agnes’s somewhat harsh image,' say the pros.

Marvellous Miranda: Miss Kerr unzips in sexy blue optical illusion outfit at NYC soiree

Given that Miranda Kerr recently strolled down the runway in just her underwear, it was quite a change to see her all trussed up.

However, while she may have been wearing more than she did at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show last week, she looked just as stunning clad in a sexily-unzipped Peter Pilotto dress last night in New York City.

The 28-year-old Australian model left husband Orlando Bloom and baby son Flynn at home to attend a night in Spanish director Pedro Almodovar's honour at the Museum of Modern Art.

She showed off her slim figure in a optical illusion dress of zigzags and zippers and intricate Nicholas Kirkwood lace-up heels.

Although her ensemble serves to draw eyes away from 'problem areas', Miranda is as close to perfect as one gets.
She gave birth to baby Flynn in January, and bounced back to her fabulous pre-pregnancy figure just weeks after the delivery.

She credits her son for helping to keep her slim.

Miranda told the New York Post: 'It's milking time. I'm still breast feeding. I'm pumping, and it's going well.'

Breast feeding is said to burn around 500 calories per day which can equate to an hour running on the treadmill.

Miranda was not the only slender beauty to pay her respects to Almodovar, the director of Bad Education, Talk to Her and Volver.

The fashion crowd was on hand for some serious celebrating, as were a slew of Hollywood's young ingenues.

Drew Barrymore and boyfriend Will Kopelman cosied up to one another wearing complementary black blazers.

It took 31 pairs of wings, 38 models and 69 different outfits to make tonight's Victoria's Secret show the most beguiling and expensive to date.

South African beauty Candice Swanepoel set the tone by opening the lavish show with a ballet-inspired section in a scintillating purple tutu and gargantuan wings.

'It's so extravagant this year,' she had cooed her earlier, and this wasn't hyperbole.

A stunning ballet tribute segued into a evocation of the 'Passions' then to a Super Angels special, an aquatic homage, a New Orleans-style sequence, and finally a pumping disco Club Pink crescendo.

Kanye West heralded the Super Angels with a rendition of Stronger, but he was just the warm up for a certain, Mr Beyonce.

'Now that was one of the classics,' the flamboyant artist exclaimed before he announced Jay-Z as a surprise guest to the rapturous crowd.

But the real stars of tonight's show, were of course the angels themselves.

Adriana Lima, was the embodiment of passion in sheer black and red while Miranda Kerr took back her crown - or rather, bra - after missing a year due to her pregnancy.

That she delivered baby Flynn, her son with Orlando Bloom, in January, was impossible to tell as she strutted in her show-stopping ice peacock outfit.

The piece de resistance was the show-stopping $2.5million Fantasy Treasure bra, dripping with yellow diamonds and pearls, which complemented Kerr's stunning figure perfectly.

Alessandra Ambrosio, meanwhile, was given the honour of wearing the Passion Play Fan Wings, which were seven years in the making.
The antique copper wings are plated with 23-carat gold and are embellished with 105,000 Swarovski crystals.
Designed and made in Sydney by Manik Mercian, the glistening prop weighs 22 pounds but it was a fitting tribute to mark her 10th trot down the catwalk.

She said before the show: 'It's definitely the heaviest wings they've ever made for Victoria's Secret. I tried to strengthen my back a little bit.'

Make-up artist Tom Perchuex opted to abandon fake eyelashes, heavy eye make-up and shimmer and instead went for flushed cheeks and classic eyes.

Backstage, the girls caught up with the events of the past year, according to USA Today.

Angels not strutting their stuff this year include British star Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Czech Republic stunner Karolina Kurkova, who have other work commitments instead.

Since it started 11 years ago, the budget for the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show has grown considerably - from $120,000 to today's bank-breaking $12m.

A total of 60 costumes have been made along with 31 sets of angel wings to be modelled by 38 models - 15 of which are newcomers and, no doubt, hoping their endeavours tonight will elevate their profiles to the lofty heights of the likes of Kerr and Brazilian beauty Ambrosio.

While 30-year-old Adriana Lima has prepared for tonight by going on a strict nine-day liquid-only diet, her colleague Chanel Iman has gained 15lbs in readiness for the runway.

The 20-year-old American model, whose mother is half Korean and father is from Africa, admitted she was struggling to keep the weight on.

She told Modelinia.com: 'I drink a lot of protein shakes and do a lot of weight lifting.'

Chanel first walked at the 2009 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show and was inaugurated as an Angel last year.

While Ruffles, feathers, frills and lace were the order of the evening as the Victoria's Secret girls took to the runway in the elaborate lingerie show at the after party the Angels shed their wings and slipped into something a little simple to celebrate their stellar show.

Miranda Kerr looked positively angelic in an Marilyn Monroe-inspired pleated white dress with a plunging neckline and cut away back detailing.

The mother-of-one had opted for a dazzling bright ensemble and was seen twirling the skirt around and holding it out as she headed to the after party at Dream Downtown in New York.

While Miranda had stepped out in a colour associated with purity her fellow Angel Alessandro Ambrosio appeared to have fallen from heaven and indulged her dark side.

The supermodel stepped out in a strapless black number which boasted a crocodile skin front panel and basque and black peep toe heels, for a devilish look.
