How kissing Daniel Radcliffe and R-Patz didn't convince Katie Leung that acting was for her

By Andrea Magrath

She shot to fame playing the girl in the middle of Daniel Radcliffe and Robert Pattinson in the world's biggest film franchise back in 2005.

But getting to be Pattinson's onscreen girlfriend in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and kiss Radcliffe in the following film The Order of the Pheonix weren't enough to convince Katie Leung she was in the right business.

The 24-year-old has revealed that she almost gave up acting altogether after completing work as Cho Chang on the final Potter film this year.

'Harry Potter was an amazing experience but I didn't know whether I was chosen on my acting ability or because I fitted the character at the time,' Miss Leung told today's Evening Standard.

But she has been tempted back to the profession, after rediscovering her love of acting during an intensive course this summer, and will be making her stage debut in February.

In another adaptation, the Scottish actress will take on the role of author Jung Chang in Wild Swans at London's Young Vic.

The book, the best-selling non-fiction work in British history, tells the history of China in the 20th century through the eyes of three generations of women in Chang's family.

Katie says: 'It is a great honour to be involved in such an extraordinary project and especially to be playing the role based on Jung Chang. I look forward to performing this truly inspirational story on stage.'

'This production means a lot to me,' says Jung Chang. 'To see Wild Swans on stage - transferred into another art form - will be fantastic.

'It feels great to know that my book is in such good hands.'

The play, which will run at the London theatre for a month from April 13, features a cast of British and American performers and is directed by Sacha Wares.

Its world premiere will take place at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on February 11.

Star-crossed lovers: Kristen Stewart oozes Gothic glamour as she poses with her leading man Robert Pattinson at The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn premiere

It was the film series that shot them to fame and also saw them begin a love affair that kept their fans delighted and enthralled.

It was only right that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were together to begin their goodbyes to the Twilight saga as they arrived at the UK premiere of Breaking Dawn: Part 1 in London tonight.

Greeted by hundreds of screaming fans, the on and off-screen couple looked every inch the movie stars as they posed for pictures on the red carpet at the Westfield Shopping Centre in Stratford.

Scroll down for the first review and the trailer...

Kristen, 21, looked absolutely gorgeous in her long black sheer sequinned dress by Roberto Cavalli which flattered her tiny frame to perfection.

It was a rare moment of glamour for the actress who usually keeps it quite short and funky for red carpet events but clearly had decided that tonight was a big occasion that was worthy of a grown-up glitzy frock.
Beautiful Bella Stewart looked all grown-up in her long black sequinned dress and a smile as she stopped for the cameras

It was also nice to see a beaming smile on her face, as they actress is usually one to keep rather straight-faced and serious for the cameras.
But tonight was a big deal for her as she and her co-stars start to say goodbye to a global blockbuster franchise that has brought the Stephanie Meyers books to the big screen.

Like the Harry Potter cast, they will have to do this all over again next year for the very last time when part two of the final chapter is released.
But for tonight, it was all about the first part, which witnesses the wedding between Bella and Edward and her falling pregnant with a half-vampire baby.

And it must have been nice for Londoner Pattinson, 25, to be back on his home turf again having been to every corner of the globe to promote the film.
He was greeted by deafening screams by his legion of fans, some of whom had queued for over 30 hours in an attempt to catch a glimpse of their heartthrob.

He and Stewart were joined by their co-star Taylor Lautner, 19, who plays wolfman Jacob Black, Pattinson's love rival and Bella's best friend.
They were the only stars of the saga to attend the UK screening apart from young British star Jamie Campbell Bower, 22, who fans will know made a brief appearance in the second film in the series, New Moon, as vampire Caius and director Bill Condon.

Also attending were singers Pixie Lott, who wore a very short black dress, Sugababe Heidi Range and The Saturday's star Una Healey, who showed off her growing baby bump in a very pretty Grecian style white dress.

TWILIGHT LOSES IT'S BITE (BUT ROBERT'S FANS DON'T CARE)

By Chris Tookey
Rating: 1 Star Rating
Verdict: Breaking down, more like. *
This film, a certain box-office hit thanks to the saga’s fanatical following, covers the first half of Meyer’s fourth book. It starts with the lavish wedding of hot yet cool vampire Edward (Robert Pattinson), aged 108, to feisty yet droopy 18 year-old Bella (Kristen Stewart). Anyone not obsessed with hair, make-up and lingerie may find the half-hour wedding sequence a near-death experience.
The inaction moves on to a turgid honeymoon on an island near Rio. There’s lovemaking so passionless it barely warrants a 12A certificate, accompanied by the world’s weediest pop music.
From there it’s on to the speediest pregnancy in history, and an alarmingly gruesome childbirth. The film-makers’ coyness about sex is strangely at odds with the grisliness of the caesarian section, which might well put an impressionable 11 year-old girl off ever giving birth.
The movie seems deeply confused as to how vampires procreate. Now it is the normal human way, whereas earlier in the series vampires continued their line by biting humans. The writers seem to be changing the rules as they go along.
Poor old Edward is clearly as much in the dark as the audience. At one point, he goes on a search engine to look up 'demon children'. The mystery is why he didn’t go to it a bit earlier and look up 'birth control'.
Skip the next two paragraphs if you don’t want to read a spoiler, but the climax depends on the notion that a grown-up werewolf can 'imprint' upon a baby at birth and make that offspring forever tied sexually to him. Yes, a werewolf can fall in love with a baby, and vice versa!
The idea is deeply creepy, bordering on paedophile, and completely at odds with the surely much healthier notion that an adult has the right to fall in love with anyone he or she chooses. Maybe even a non-werewolf.
Director Bill Condon has made classy films in the past, notably Gods & Monsters and Kinsey, but he has never shown much sense of humour or feeling for pace or action. He is ideally unsuited to this material.
His attitude towards the Twilight Saga is reverential. There is none of the intentional comedy that enlivened the previous Twilight movie. The only laughs in this are from the po-faced dialogue, potty plotting and wooden performances.
And before all you Twilight fans complain that I’m too old to appreciate the saga, check out my review of the first film; I awarded it four stars out of five. A rather good original idea has dwindled into self-parody.

Stop flirting you two! Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson can't keep their hands off each other at hand and foot print ceremony

By Sarah Fitzmaurice

They keep their relationship extremely private and rarely speak about the other.

But Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson put on an affectionate display in front of the cameras today.

The chemistry between the couple was on show for all to see as they took part in the hand and foot prints ceremony at Graumans Theatre earlier yesterday.

The pair were joined by their Twilight co-star Taylor Lautner, but the couple only had eyes for each other.

Kristen, 21, was seen placing her hand on her boyfriend’s thigh, an intimate gesture rarely seen from the publicity-shy couple.

The actress was dressed in a super short nude dress with black piping and beaded detail taken from the Marios Schwab Spring/Summer 2012 collection.

While the frock showed off her trim legs it boasted a modest high neckline, suitable for the event.

Gone was the cast Kristen had been sporting on her right hand as she jetted into LA on Wednesday.

Robert, 25, had dressed up for the occasion too and looked dapper in a grey suit which he teamed with a white shirt leaving the top button undone.

The British actor couldn’t keep his eyes of his gorgeous girlfriend and the pair were see joking together.

The couple were also seen flirting after they had pressed their hands into the cement and the actress pushed her messy hands up towards her boyfriend’s face with a cheeky grin spread across her face.

Kristen couldn't stop smiling and she gushed to the crowd: 'This is so crazy for us. I've been so enamored by this business, Hollywood.'

She added: 'I think this is the coolest thing I've done in my life. I've grown up thinking that. I just love this business. This is insane that I'm doing this.'

While the loved up couple, who have recently spent time together in London, put an amorous display, Taylor smiled for fans.

The actor was dressed in a pair of dark jeans and a black shirt, taking a more casual approach to the ceremony than his co-stars.

The trio return to screens later this month in the highly-anticipated latest instalment in the Twilight Saga.

The film's director, Bill Condon, recently told Celebuzz why the film's much anticipated sex scene didn't feel like, well, a Twilight series sort of scene.

'There are MPAA guidelines on thrusting intercourse,' Condon explained of the original scene shot for the PG-13 rated film. [Kristen] got very into it.'

The film is meant for teens, which is why the director was overly cautious as to how he filmed it.

'[The scene] was so much more about romance than it was about hot-and-heavy action,' he told MTV.com, adding that taking out the bit that made it R-rated was a 'very simple adjustment to make'.

Kristen and Robert will appear in the first sex scene of the series - due for release on November 18.

And to add fuel to the hype, the actress has admitted that the first time they filmed it, things got so heated that the scene had to be completely re-cut.

'We originally got rated R!' Kristen Stewart opens up about Breaking Dawn sex scene which was too steamy to show

By Holly Thomas

Anticipation for the latest installment of the Twilight saga is already reaching fever pitch, with one event in particular on people's lips (and minds).

Real-life couple Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson will appear in the first sex scene of the series in Breaking Dawn- due for release on November 18.

And to add fuel to the hype, the 21-year-old actress has admitted that the first time they filmed it, things got so heated that the scene had to be completely re-cut.

Scroll down to watch the Breaking Dawn trailer...

Perhaps the couple were keen to make the most of the event, given the long wait.

Describing the experience in an interview with Glamour magazine, Kristen said: 'It was so weird, it didn't even feel like we were doing a Twilight film. I was like, 'Bella! What are you doing? Wow! What is happening here?!'

'It was very surreal. We [originally] got rated R. They re-cut it,' she revealed.

It was clearly something the pair had looked forward to for some time, as Kristen told Access Hollywood last year: 'It doesn't get more action-packed… [But] they definitely get more physical. Well, they get married.'

And the 20-year-old joked: 'We totally have sex – finally!'

Pattinson was equally thrilled with the development, which is well-known to readers of the Stephenie Meyer books.

'I'm looking forward to the pillow-biting scene,' he said. 'I thought that was so funny. Of all the random things too do, really? He bites the pillow.'

Hotly anticipated: The love scene will be the first ever shown in the Twilight saga

But as the pivotal day grew closer, excitement gave way to nerves as Kirsten and her beau started to feel the pressure to look their best.

'Usually we all make fun of Taylor for working out so often, and then suddenly me and Rob were like 'S***' and were running around the block while Taylor laughed at us,' Kristen told Glamour.

The wedding scene, another landmark for fans, was also an occasion wrought with stress, as Kristen's dress was under Kate Middleton-esque security to ensure the details of its design were not leaked.

'I had to be shrouded in secrecy the entire two days of filming,' the actress divulged.

'It was crazy… I was on full lockdown, as if I was wearing millions of dollars' worth of diamonds.'

Kristen was less forthcoming when asked about her real-life relationship with Robert.

'It’s funny when this question comes up, because I sort of feel like, I don’t really care!' she exclaimed.

'People can say whatever they want…. [The interest] is totally understandable, but when it’s personal to you, it’s like your life becomes a product and I’m repelled by that.'

She may not be well known this side of the Atlantic, but Lucy Hale clearly wants to be noticed.

The US actress, best known for her role in Pretty Little Liars, stepped out in a pair of heelless platforms at the Teen Choice Awards yesterday.

Lady Gaga also has a penchant for the eccentric shoes, on this occasion from designer Giuseppe Zanotti.

The 22-year-old picked up the award for Choice Female Summer TV Star for her work on the hit ABC Family series at the event in California.

Lucy has been on a steady rise to fame since her teens, with small roles in The Wizards of Waverley Place, Bionic Woman and Privileged.

While the brunette star didn't quite have fireworks exploding from her bra or any facial prosthetics, she did opt for an unusual dress that wouldn't seem out of place in the Bad Romance singer's wardrobe.

The asymmetric gown was slashed at the neck and entirely covered in cream and black sequins.

Homegrown talent Rupert Grint and Tom Felton also put in an appearance, taking home the trophy - or rather, surfboard - for Best Movie and Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1.

Felton, who plays baddie Draco Malfoy, also won Best Villain.

The boy wizard franchise won seven awards in total, including Choice Movie Liplock for Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson's screen kiss.
