As she attempts to make her name across the Pond and tentatively waits to learn her X Factor fate, Cheryl Cole appears to have been dealt another professional blow.
Because according to reports today, another big US celebrity was left blank-faced when asked if they knew who the Girls Aloud star was.
Singer and actress Jennifer Hudson was approached at her album launch party last week, and asked to comment on Cole, according to the Sun.
Still an unknown: Cheryl Cole's US ambitions have been dealt another blow after Jennifer Hudson confused her with singer Sheryl Crow
And she appeared to look confused and mistook the X Factor judge for another singer, telling the reporter: 'Sheryl Crow?'
When corrected, she still looked baffled and added: 'No, I’m not familiar with her.'
They couldn't be more different: Singer Sheryl Crow is a big Grammy-winning star in the US
Speaking to Fabulous magazine, she said ‘Ah, someone mentioned her to me yesterday. She’s a singer, right?
'I don’t know too much about her, I don’t know her music. I’d be happy to learn about it!’
However, one celebrity who does know who Cheryl is and thinks she'd make a great addition to US TV is presenter Cat Deeley.
Not a clue: Both Jennifer Hudson and Jennifer Lopez were left stumped when asked to comment on Cheryl Cole
She told the Sun: 'Cheryl is just completely charming. The whole public love her and she's the nation's sweetheart - I don't see why she wouldn't be that in America too.'
You've got a friend: Cheryl has a supporter in Cat Deeley who said the singer would be a hit in the US
