There’s no hope for us, if even stunning Freida Pinto worries about how she looks in front of boyfriend Dev Patel.

India’s hottest export told InStyle magazine about the pressures to impress her other half - even when they’re miles apart.

The 26-year-old often relies on Skype to talk to her beau and hates it and loves it in equal measure.

She said: ‘We use it (Skype) a lot - and we hate it as well!

'It’s like a tease. I also feel it’s this pressure, "Oh my God, he’s seeing me after two weeks, I hope my hair is okay."

'It’s just hideous. I think even the most beautiful person looks stupid on Skype.'

The couple met three years ago while shooting the Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire, and fell in love on and off screen.

Their whirlwind romance was coupled with a hasty rise to fame, with both young stars never having had a leading role in Hollywood before.

As a result of experiencing their Hollywood journey together, Freida credits the former Skins star, 21, with understanding her better than anyone.

Freida said: 'I always say, I don’t think there will be anybody who understands it better than him.

'‘Not even my family - because they were not with me every step of the way, but he, literally, was. And I was with him.'

Director Danny Boyle took a chance on them and Freida's career has continued to surge from strength to strength.

She has now with Woody Allen in You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger and plays the female lead in Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

Freida stars in the film, telling the pre-story to Planet of the Apes, alongside 127 Hours actor James Franco and Andy Serkis.

But the modest Bafta-nominee said: ‘I don’t know if I can call myself a pioneer. I never knew it was going to happen the way it happened.

'If I’m going to be presented with an opportunity, it'd be silly not to lap it up - and that opportunity was given to me by Slumdog.

‘Danny would tell us, “Just know you’ve had a great time doing this film and you’ve enjoyed yourself. Let the experience be superlative, rather than the expectation."

‘And the experience was phenomenal. I’ve not had an experience like Slumdog in all the seven films that I’ve done since.’

Despite propelling into the spotlight, Freida says she still swaps fashion tips with Dev rather than employing a stylist.

She said: ‘I buy for him all the time. I got him some Sanchita and he really likes it.

‘He’s got his own very good sense of fashion. He loves his Burberry; he wears it to most events - Burberry should give him a contract.’

And while she harbours a soft spot for designers, especially Chanel who ‘believed in her from the beginning’, she adores Topshop where she can claim 'a 40 per cent discount'.

So for the girl who has it all, what is left to achieve? Living with Dev.

They are currently undecided about where to settle, with Freida buying an apartment in Mumbai and keen for one in New York, while Dev - who still lives with his parents in Harrow - is hoping to buy a home in London.

‘I’m kind of conflicted between London and New York. Dev prefers London any day,' she said.

‘He’s been born and brought up here, he knows people here... But I love the nomad life - it wouldn’t make a difference to me, London or New York.

‘I love London a lot, it’s one of my favourite cities in the world. But I would love to experience New York as well - and I guess now’s the time to do it.'

Rise of the Planet of the Apes is out on Friday.
