Dougie Poynter has been crowned King Of The Jungle after winning this year's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

McFly bassist, 24, was stunned after beating former bookies favourite Mark Wright: 'I'm lost for words. My mouth is so dry. It's been the best couple of week in my life.'

The Essex-native was presented with his crown by hosts of the ITV2 spin-off show, Laura Whitmore and Joe Swash.

After strutting down the walkway, he was greeted by his jubilant McFly bandmate Tom Fletcher.

Despite being runner-up, The Only Way Is Essex star and club promoter Mark, 24, was a gracious loser.

He said: There couldn't be a bit winner. He's the nicest, kindest person in the whole wide world. He deserves every minute of it.'

During their joint interview before finding out the winner, Dougie admitted he was surprised to have ended up in the final at all.

He said: 'I didn't do anything, I felt like I just chilled in my hammock the whole time.'

Mark enthused: 'It's the most amazing experience of my whole life.'

Dougie admitted they had been sick repeated times following their Bushtucker Trial the previous night.

Before finding out he hadn't won, Mark insisted: 'I've won being here... I can't be a loser today. It's not a competition. It's an experience of a lifetime and I've loved every minute.'

The show I was on before, it's kinda real-life, but you have to exaggerate. when I used to watch it back, I used to say that's really exaggerated. On this show, I'm totally me.'

When asked about a potential romance with Emily Scott, Mark said: 'Emily's a very good looking girl and a lovely girl to be around. We'll see when she gets out. She can come to Essex, we can hang out, everyone can come to Essex.'

Dougie was announced the winner after the pair went head to head in their final Bushtucker trial 'The final Party'.

They each had to eat a disgusting drink, starter, main course and dessert made of weird jungle concoctions, which would be worth a tastier alternative back at camp later on.

Mark started off the trial by drinking blended cockroaches, which left him retching.

Dougie didn't even wait to hear from Ant and Dec about what he was drinking and quickly downed a 'bloody scary' of blended emu liver.

He said: 'It wasn’t that bad it tasted like blood and liver yeah.'

For the start, Mark struggled to eat a 'beachworm bruschetta', which featured two alive beachworms.

He struggled to eat them because they were so chewy and wriggling in his mouth.

After finally swallowing them, he lamented: 'That was worse than the drink.'

Dougie nearly threw up after eating his starter of 'sushi degrotto' - made of a witchetty grub.

Mark decided to change his approach and imagine his main course of cricket crudité’ - a king cricket served with vomit fruit dipping sauce - was Peking duck.

After swallowing it, he declared: 'That was horrific it tasted like… sick.'

Dougie struggled to eat his main course Dim Bum - an ostrich's anus - and had Mark providing support by saying: 'It’s just a bit of meat, eat it like it is a bit of meat sitting here like we are having a Chinese meal.'

Finally, Mark's dessert was fish-eyed oysters, which he had to chew a lot on the optic nerve.

But poor Dougie ended up with one of the foulest dishes - a bush pig penis chopped into sections.

As he chewed on one of the sections, Dougie cried: 'Penis tastes so bad!'

Mark and Dougie to fight it out for I'm A Celeb crown

Last men standing! Mark and Dougie to fight it out for I'm A Celeb crown, but the battle is close as they're neck and neck in the polls

Mark Wright and Emily Scott may have set tongues wagging with their jungle flirtations, but it's fair to say Mark's attention has shifted since her departure.

He and McFly bass player Dougie have seen their unlikely friendship go from strength to strength, but it is about to face its greatest test yet.

With Antony and Fatima were voted out, the best buddies have been left to fight it out for the crown in the final, airing tonight.

And all that man love flying about the jungle has certainly had an impact on the viewers, as the pair are currently neck and neck in our very own Daily mail poll.

Only one of the young stars will be named King of the jungle but no doubt there will be 'no hard feelings' when the winner is announced tomorrow.

The Only Way Is Essex star Mark seemed to agree and revealed he's made some true friends.

'Dougie will be a friend for life but when I first met Antony I didn’t know if I’d get on with him as much as I did,' he said.

'When Emily came into the camp I thought she’s hot, she’s a true fighter, if I get out and we gel then who knows what might happen.'

He then went on to say how much he'd missed his family whilst being in the jungle but was glad that he did it.

'It makes me emotional thinking about it because it has been the most wonderful experience.

'I’m proud and honoured every day that goes by I’ve won, every vote that’s been given me, I’ve won.'

Dougie admitted that he wasn't sure he'd made the right decision by going on the show, but added he couldn't have been more wrong.

'I was super nervous and I thought, "what am I doing?" I have nothing in common with these people," and I didn’t expect to get on with many of the others.

'I’ve met people that I’ll be friends with for a long time. I thought I wouldn’t get on with Mark but it’s awesome hanging out with him.

'The experience has been amazing, wicked, everything about the jungle is amazing. Anyone who gets the chance, should do it, it’s the coolest thing ever.'

Mark's best friend and TOWIE wingman James 'Arg' Argent might be the best person to give Dougie an indication of what he can expect should his friendship with Mark continue outside the jungle.

Arg has been looking forward to a reunion with his best mate - and a return to their favourite boys' nights, a hugely embarrassing secret he keeps from all ladyfriends.

The Essex singer confessed in an interview with the Mirror: 'Mark’s big secret is his lads’ sleepovers – he’ll be so embarrassed now his girlfriends have found out. We’ve always done them and the last was about a month ago.'

'We share a bed and watch a movie – last time we saw the Disney film The Mighty Ducks on DVD.'
Despite his natual envy of Dougie spending so much time with Mark, Arg enthusiastically showed his support for Mark, gushig: 'I’m confident he’ll be the King of the Jungle.'

Emotional Mark was rather overwhelmed when he heard a letter from his family yesterday, having admitted on several occasions just how much he missed them.

'We are so proud of you and everyone is missing you and sending their love and kisses,' they wrote.

'You have done everything that we hoped you would; you are a true gentleman and a courageous and fun-loving boy.

'We are all willing you to win but you are already a winner in our eyes. Everyone is voting for you at home and so many are saying that you have surprised them and that they feel they are seeing the real Mark.

'We miss you and love. TEAM MARK! TEAM MARK!'

No boundaries: Mark sniffed Dougie's armpit while Antony looked on in shock

Wiping away his tears, Mark said: 'Every day I’ve been waiting to hear from my family. I speak to my mum and dad about ten times a day so to receive a letter saying how they are feeling about me couldn’t be more emotional and meant the world. I’ll save that letter to the day I die.'

McFly star Dougie was the last one to hear his letter - which had been written in two segments by his band mate, Tom Fletcher, and his girlfriend.

His partner, Lara, wrote: 'Oi oi Captain, Tom says I have to say something cringy now to see if I can make you cry.

Tastes like soup: The McFly star told Ant and Dec that the fly pupae tasted like soup
Testing times: Dougie was covered with fly pupae for a bushtucker trial on his 24th birthday...
'I did it': Dougie was so pleased that he completed the trial and decided to jump on Mark on his return to the camp
... but best mate Mark was there to greet him when Dougie returned triumphantly to camp

'So, meeting you has been the best thing that’s ever happened to me. You truly are the most special person I know and I’m hook line and sinker in love with you.

'However, if you dump me for your new man friend Mark I will slap you round the face with a wet fish. You have been warned.

Love your fellow finger clicker. X Lots of love, Tom, Gi and Lara.

Getting clean: The musician said that the first thing he wanted to do after the trial was have a wash

Guy time: mark then joined Dougie as he went for a much needed wash in the pool

Dougie seemed really chuffed with his letter and said afterwards: 'That letter beats any present and I will keep that letter for the rest of my life.'

But Antony couldn't let a day go by without a moan about Fatima, and as she began bossing Mark and Dougie about Antony told them that they should stick up for themselves.

'People are trying to take control of the camp as a ploy to get to the final,' Mark said.

'She’s cutting us down all the time and making us feel bad.'

how do I look? Mark borrowed Jessica-Jane's coconut bra
(Fe)male bonging: Back when the girls were in camp. Mark borrowed Jessica-Jane's coconut bra

Dougie agreed, saying: 'Antony and Fatima have different ways of running the camp; it’s like a time bomb waiting to explode.'

Mark and Dougie have been rather more supportive of each other than their bickering former camp mates, as was evident after Dougie endured a bushtucker trial in lieu of a 24th birthday party.

Mark suggested Dougie do the rial to mark his special day- though his pal wasn't so sure about doing it at first.

Dougie rallied however, declaring: 'I have to do relatively well as everyone is bumming out today.'

Animal instinct: Dougie Poynter got in on the action, modelling her leopard-print bra
Not to be outdone: Dougie got in on the cross-dressing action, modelling her leopard-print bra
After a gruesome ordeal which saw Dougie consume fly pupae, Dougie returned to camp triumphant, where Mark greeted him with open arms.
Mark and Dougie have been of one mind from the beginning- even when it comes to slightly less serious matters.
Back when the girls were still in camp, it appeared Mark was becoming jealous of all the attention Emily Scott and Jessica-Jane Clement's buxom bodies were getting.
Dougie teamed up with his friend to try ad win back some of the limelight, giving Jessica-Jane's leopard print bra a test run while Mark donned her coconut bra.
  • The I'm A Celebrity: Get Me Out Of Here final airs tonight on ITV at 9.30

I'm A Celeb Update 3.12.11: Fatima and Anthony Out of the I'm A Celeb jungle

'I'm absolutely made up, it was a dream come true for me!' Fatima Whitbread gushes like a teenager over Peter Andre, as she and Antony Cotton are evicted from the jungle

By Kirsty Mccormack and Holly Thomas

They both gave every task their all, but it was finally time to say goodbye for Coronation Street Star Antony Cotton and Olympian Fatima Whitbread on last night's I'm A Celebrity: Get Me Out Of Here.
Antony was the first of the four to be told he would be going home, having managed 21 days of camp life.

Disappointed that he didn't make it to the final, he told Ant and Dec 'I'm absolutely gutted.'

As Antony predicted, Fatima wouldn't be taking the crown home either, and a short while after his exit, Ant and Dec made their way back to camp to announce her elimination.

Before Fatima bid the camp farewell though, Antony opened up a little more about his jungle experience.

'We've come this far and I'd never even thought about the final until last night, so I'm gutted but I did all I could do and I'm amazed I lasted this long,' he said.

Ant and Dec then commented on Antony's emotional highs and lows whilst he was in the jungle.

'Every part of it was emotional and exciting,' he told them. 'You can't plan for it.

'You feel like you're locked in and you cant run away anywhere.'

The hosts then asked Antony if he thought being friends with Mark was something that would never have happened in ordinary life.

'Our paths probably would never have crossed,' he said. 'It was so fascinating to watch people in there.'

But someone who he wasn't so keen to watch was Fatima, but Antony said that they're relationship could have been a lot worse.

'I have been relatively tight lipped,' he told Ant and Dec, who laughed at the comment.

'I have watched what I've said in there.'

The soap star finished his interview by telling Ant and Dec that he wants either Mark or Dougie to win.

Fatima also looked gutted when she realised she hadn't made it to the final but was comforted by Mark who told her she should be proud of herself.

Despite being so competitive, the former athlete did admit that she was surrpised she's also made it this far.

'There were some strong contenders in there this year,' she told the hosts.

But the conversation soon turned to the subject of a roaming cockroach.

'It shot up my nose straight away,' Fatima told them, referring to a past Bushtucker trial.

'But quitting was not an option,' she added.

Spilling the beans: Antony told Ant and Dec that he was 'relatively tight lipped' in the jungle

Ant and Dec commented about her positive attitude and determination, to which she replied: 'That's been my career for over 30 years.'

'Ever since I was 11, I wanted to be a sportsperson. That's been my way of life and it's the only way I know.'

But even when Fatima was asked about the various run-ins she had with the different celebrities, she had a strategic answer.

'We're all different characters and personalities, but Ive always believed to be true to yourself.

'I speak my mind in a diplomatic way.'

'It's my way of life': Fatima explained to Ant and Dec that she is always positive and motivated in whatever she does

The mother-of-one even had kind words to say about Antony: 'I've grown to love him, he's a good man but he's larger than life.

'I did feel sometimes he would like to skive a little bit from doing the washing up.'

She had even kinder words to say about visitor to the jungle, Peter Andre.

'I'm absolutely made up, it was a dream come true for me.'

Fatima finished her interview by saying ultimately she wanted to Mark to win the show saying: 'Both of them are bosom buddies.'

The four superheroes: Antony, Mark, Fatima and Dougie were excited to be taking part in the Celebrity Cyclone
The four superheroes: Antony, Mark, Fatima and Dougie were excited to be taking part in the Celebrity Cyclone

But regardless of leaving the jungle one day before the final, both Antony and Fatima admitted that they had had the best time of their lives on the show.

Yesterday all four camp mates took the time to reflect on their experience in the jungle and it seemed that none of them were disappointed with the outcome.

'Jungle life has been the most wonderful experience I’ve ever had,' stated Fatima.
'I have a hard exterior but underneath I’m a softie. In the beginning everyone is tense you put up walls to protect yourself.
'The trials have been the best thing for me and failure wasn’t an option.
'I’ve got to know myself better; it’s brought me back to Fatima the person, being back in the jungle, I’ve got to quite like myself again. I can’t believe this has happened to me,' she added.
It's the Bushtucker trial that viewers most look forward to, but they're not the only ones.
The I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here contestants couldn't wait to take part in the group challenge, which finally saw rivals Fatima and Antony work together as a team.

Along with Mark and Dougie, the arguing pair faced Celebrity Cyclone where they tackled powerful water hoses, slime and fast winds as they attempted to win a meal each.

First up: Antony attempted the trial and had to grab all four stars

After watching previous series of the show they had a fair idea of what they were in for, with Dougie asking: 'So you think this is a bit strenuous?'

'Yeah its jungle typhoon!' Antony replied.

'So glad it’s not bugs and stuff,' Mark added.

Fatima prepared herself mentally for the challenge by singing to herself Eye of the Tiger, then they all then got changed into their superhero costumes and headed across the bridge to face the challenge.

Helping hand: Dougie was the second camp mate to climb up the slope and had some help from Antony

Ant and Dec explained that there were four stars up for grabs and that they had to battle the elements to try and win them.

The aim of the game was to get one star on each of the markers on the course and each camp mate would need to have them their in place at the end of the ten minutes.

Antony was the first celebrity to face the challenge and had to grab all four stars and place them on the first marker.

As he attempted to keep them in place, Dougie then made his way towards him and grabbed one star from him and made his way to his spot a bit higher up.

As Mark set off as the third contestant to attempt the challenge he shouted: 'Oh my god what is going on?'

Wearing his pink superhero cape, he slipped whilst trying to grab the stars from Dougie but he succeeded in getting them but not before being hit in the face by a gym ball.

With only four minutes left, it was Fatima's turn next and after telling the group she had 'the most energy and speed,' she was determined to do her bit.

The former athlete was slipping and sliding as she made her way up and just as she's grabbed her star from Mark, a big gush of water pushed her down the slope and meant that she lost her star.

But it wasn't just her that got pushed back as so did the others and Mark also had to run back to the beginning to gain his star.

With only two minutes left, they worked hard to regain their places and Fatima powered through the elements getting to her marker with only one minute left.

As the klaxon went off and the foursome realised they'd done it, Mark shouted: 'Yes, we did it!'

Fatima was feeling particularly triumphant and punched the air, then laid down and let the water rush over her.

'Oh I loved it!' Antony shrieked whilst Mark smiled and said: 'That was one of the best things I have ever done - amazing.'

The Celebrities headed back into camp feeling very triumphant and happy that they would be eating well that evening.

But as they arrived back, they realised that the fire had gone out and Mark screamed when he found a leech on his underwear.

But before long he had pulled down his pants and gave the critter a big flick.

However, Fatima wasn't bothered about the leech and still had her mind on the trial.

'What a triumphant day that was,' she said. 'Four stars, I can’t wait to get our meal tonight, I wonder what sort of meal we'll have?'

'I've had the best laugh of my life': Crissy Rock is still smiling as she is the next camp mate to leave the I'm A Celeb jungle

By Kirsty Mccormack

Last updated at 9:27 AM on 1st December 2011

She might have been on cloud nine with Peter Andre yesterday but today Crissy came crashing back down to earth as she was the next celebrity to leave the jungle.

The Benidorm actress was delighted as Ant and Dec read her name out to the group and she immediately gave Willie Carson a big hug.

'I'm going home Willie, I'm gonna have my bacon and eggs for ya,' she told him.

As the group asked her what she needed as she prepared to leave she answered: 'Nothing, I'm going home.'

The blonde star managed 19 days in the jungle and was well-known as the camp jester who was always laughing.

'Freedom!' she shouted as she made her way across the bridge.

'Are you pleased to be out?' Dec asked her.

'No, I'm sad but I already won by getting here, I've had a lovely time. The pinnacle was Peter Andre.'

She also told them that she was shocked that she lasted so long: 'I was in a coma for the first week, but I was on my holidays.'

She then went on to say that she didn't regret not jumping out of the plane at the beginning of the show but said she's had the 'best laugh' of her life.

The conversation then moved on to the camp traitors and Crissy told the hosts: 'We didn't know it was for the good of the group and we had no idea it was Antony and Dougie.'

But after talk of the negative vibes in the camp, Crissy expressed her delight at having spent time with Peter Andre.

'If I'd gone out yesterday and missed that I would have been gutted,' she said.

'He's gonna give me special VIP tickets for me and my friend.'

The last question that Ant and Dec asked Crissy was who she would like to see take home the jungle crown.

'At the minute Willie,' she said. 'Because he's been an absolute sport.

'From day one he's wanted to go home but he's still there so either him or Fatima.'

Perhaps it was her unexpected rant with her 'partner in crime' Willie that lost her votes from the public tonight.

The Scottish star slammed Antony and Dougie after he discovered that they were the real camp traitors.

The star called the pair 'f***ing thieves,' and when they tried to explain themselves, he continued with his opinion.

Still annoyed: Willie and Crissy were angry when they discovered that Antony and Dougie were the real camp traitors

'You don’t steal, you don’t lie,' he said. 'I’m seething, annoyed, these thieves get away with it and we do the time. I’m so f***ing angry.

Willie was told he had to spend the night with Crissy in a dark dungeon after they incorrectly guessed who the traitors were.

'If it was just me, I’d have given you a thump and laughed about it,' he said to Antony and Dougie.

'It's turned nasty, condoning stealing, you can’t do this, condoning thieving, and how can this look good?'

Dougie then tried to apologise while Antony attempted to explain that they thought they were winning packages for everyone and did not know the pair would be imprisoned for it.

In trouble: Antony and Dougie were the target of Willie's ongoing rant

'Willie when you get out of here you will see exactly what happened and you will see that you filled in your own blanks and you are wrong,' said Antony.

'As far as we were aware we were doing it for everyone, we don’t get anything out of it. It’s just a game show!'

But Willie still couldn't let it go and later said: 'He’s lucky I didn’t pull him out of the bed last night, I was very close to it. What you are doing to all the kids in England is condoning stealing.

'You don’t steal, you don’t lie, even in a game show. It is selfishness and I can’t condone it.'

But his anger soon turned into a different kind of emotion as Crissy brought in the packages that Antony and Dougie had won for her and Willie from their loved ones.

Crissy was presented with a photo of her friend, some chocolate and her yin and yan balls, while Willie opened a picture of his wife Elaine.

'The emotion gets to you,' he said as he wiped away a tear.

But this seemed to annoy Antony as he felt Willie didn't appreciate what they had done in order for him to get his precious photograph.

'Morals come and go don’t they? He’s not even had the good grace to apologise.

'The horrible thing is we never did anything but they did say those things and they did react that way,' he added.

'You can’t take that away, it’s a horrible feeling. You can forgive and forget but can’t take it away.'

But Mark Wright defended Crissy and Willie, saying: 'You can understand why they thought like that.'

'I will never understand that because I would not react like that,' Antony snapped back.

'Not with people I have lived with for two weeks.'

However, Crissy didn't seem to hold a grudge against the pair and was kind enough to share her chocolate with the group.

'It’s your birthday please take a bar,' she told Dougie as she sang Happy Birthday to him.

'No hard feelings, we’ve got over it now,' she added as she also handed some to Antony and Mark.

'It wasn’t what you did, it was the way we were treated, it’s not your fault,' she said and then hugged Dougie.

'All I’ll say is you make good spies.'

But the negative vibes in the camp hadn't completely disappeared as Antony continued his feud with Fatima.

Speaking to Dougie - following his attempt at the Bushtucker trial - the Coronation Street star was still talking about Willie's reaction that morning but soon managed to bring Fatima's mood into the equation.

'You get someone like Fatima who in this environment isn’t how she is normally but in here she is like empowering whilst also undercutting, it makes me furious,' he said.

'When you had trial doubts earlier she was straight in there under cutting you, she more than anyone was putting doubt in your mind.

'All the time trying to tell you how to empower yourself, I can see it, he added. 'You did it so well done you but you nearly didn’t.'

However, Dougie wasn't bothered as he was celebrating turning 24 and received a surprise in the form of celebrity guest - Peter Andre.

The former I'm A Celebrity contestant spent the day in camp and certainly made an impact on them all.

The former pop star was on hand to give Mark some love advice after he met his ex-wife, Katie Price, during his time in the jungle.

As Mark was sat on his own contemplating his relationship with his ex-girlfriend, Lauren Goodger, Peter decided to join him.

'I don’t know how you feel, or felt, but I’m finding things hard with my ex, but I know it’s not right, Mark said to him.

'I loved Katie more than I loved anyone in my life, we had kids, a marriage and you never loose that,' he replied.

'Why can’t you find a different way?' he added referring to Lauren.

'We tried so many times,' said Mark and then asked Peter how he got over Katie.

'However I look at the situation, it’s not what I wanted,' he answered.

He then pointed to his heart and said: 'I think this has moved on, but this hasn’t,' and pointed to his head.

'My heart has moved on, I’m ready to meet someone and all that but seriously, it’s your mind, it’s always there.'

'But I think my head has moved on as I want to be with someone else but my heart won’t move on,' said Mark.

'Then I’m sorry to say it, you’re gonna hate me but you’re not ready to.

'If she means something to you then there has got to be another way,' added Peter.

The pair then moved down to the creek to have some privacy and their conversation continued.

'For years, it’s gone on and on and I know it’s not right,' Mark then told him.

'Ten years is a long time,' remarked Peter.

'If this experience has made you clearer in the mind, then great, but it sounds to me that there’s still something there, I can’t imagine her not doing anything to make it right.'

'I know she would,' finished Mark.

Later that day, Peter had a different kind of conversation with another male camp mate as he enjoyed some time in a hot tub.

The camp had been split into two teams for a general knowledge quiz, with Antony, Willie and Dougie playing against Mark, Fatima and Crissy.

The three men were triumphant and their prize was a hot tub party with Peter.

'My hot tub parties usually rock but I’m not in control of this one so anything could happen,' Peter said.

As the group enjoyed some champagne and sang happy birthday to Dougie, Willie accidentally touched Peter’s penis with his toe.

'I didn’t expect at the end of the day to be sharing a hot tub with three guys and Willie has just touched my willy, he gave me a willy wonka,' the star commented.

Willie almost disappeared under the water until he found a high seat.

'I could swim around here if you lot get out!' he said.

The group returned to the camp feeling a little bit tipsy, and then the group had to wave Peter goodbye.

Before leaving he said: 'Being here this evening changed everything - it brought back every beautiful memory, the sounds, the smell - it just reminded me how I felt in every way.'

'Hungry, in love, hungry, in love and hungry.

'These guys were given an extra meal tonight for me but I’m not going to eat it as it’s a bit of extra food for them will mean so much.'

'He gave me a willy wonka!' Peter Andre gets more than he bargained for as he spends time in the hot tub during his day in the I'm A Celeb jungle

He might have found romance the last time he stepped foot in the jungle but this time Peter Andre got another unexpected treat.

The former pop star arrived in the jungle yesterday after the camp mates correctly guessed the name of five songs that were played into the jungle.

The 38-year-old star spent the day with the other celebrities and it ended with a party in the hot tub where Willie Carson accidentally touched him where he shouldn't.

'I didn’t expect at the end of the day to be sharing a hot tub with three guys and Willie has just touched my willy, he gave me a willy wonka,' Peter said.

He shared the hot tub and champagne with the former jockey, Antony and Dougie after the trio won the camp quiz.

Earlier on in the day the celebrities were told they had to write their own jungle song using bongos, tambourines and a guitar.

They had only one hour to write the track and then performed the song in order to win a treat.

The task was one close to the heart of Peter as he wrote the catchy song Insania during his time in the bush.

He released the track once he left the jungle and it reached number three in the charts.

However, he counted himself out of this singing task saying: 'I’ve already sung once here, I ain't going to do it again. There are some things I regret in my life and that was one of them.'

Dougie had hoped they would write together though, saying: 'Finally the stars have aligned and McFly are collaborating with Peter Andre!'

He then named the jungle band The Leeches because he said: 'We suck!'

The lyrics to the song they'd written were: 'Here in the jungle in our final days, smiles as big as Andre’s, strumming guitar our Dougie plays, awesome in so many ways, not forgetting Fatima who is always moaning for tea, the Prince and Princess locked in a cell, we’re ready for home you can tell, left in the jungle.'

After an enthusiastic performance from the group, Dougie decided to smash up the guitar that he had been using.

'I couldn’t have written that song by myself,' he said. 'As it would have been a song all about boobs and food.'

'It’s gone from being a dark morning to a glorious day,' Antony added.

And although Mark Wright missed out on some hot tub fun with the lads, he did get the chance to spend some quality time with Peter as the two discussed their love lives with one another.

'I loved Katie more than I loved anyone in my life, we had kids, a marriage,' he told the TOWIE star.

'You never lose that, yeah, being here is spooking me out.'

Mark then went on to open up about his feelings for his ex-girlfriend, Lauren Goodger, who he was with for ten years.

'I think my head has moved on as I want to be with someone else but my heart won’t move on,' he said.

'For years, it’s gone on and on and I know it’s not right,' Mark added.

But Peter needn't worry about not getting any female attention as Crissy and Fatima were besotted with him as soon as he walked out of the mystery box.

Fatima laid on her hammock gazing at the British-born Australian, and Crissy managed to persuade him to give her his number when she left the jungle so that she could arrange to come to one of his future concerts.

The Mysterious Girl singer seemed a bit overwhelmed to be back in the jungle after so many years and looked happy as he reminisced about his blossoming romance with Katie Price, and told the group how he got close to her.

He tweeted about his anticipation before entering the jungle yesterday, saying: 'I'm about to go in .:) wow this feels strange.'

But as he left the group after letting them have his dinner because he knew how hungry they must have been, the father-of-two looked pleased that he had spent the day there.

What a way to spend your birthday: I'm A Celeb's Dougie celebrates turning 24 by completing a Bushtucker trial

Most people spend their birthday eating cake and opening presents but not Dougie Poynter.

The I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here star spent his 24th birthday in the Australian jungle but he wasn't sitting around bored.

The McFly star agreed to complete the latest Bushtucker trial after Mark suggested he should do it on his special day.

But Dougie wasn't so sure about doing it at first.

'Fatima will nail this Bush Tucker Trial but I’m happy to give it a go,' he told the group.

'I have to do relatively well as everyone is bumming out today.'

The group were not so enthusiastic for Willie to take part as he told them: 'I will get the stars and then I’ll drop them.'

As Dougie arrived at the trial, hosts Ant and Dec attempted to sing Happy Birthday to the star but he asked them to stop while laughing.

The pair then asked him if he was looking forward to doing the trial.

'I knew they would make me do it as it was my birthday and because I was a naughty traitor,' Dougie answered.

Race Around The Clock saw Dougie lay down on a giant clock where he pulled himself around it and put his face into several boxes that were placed at different numbers on the clock.

Inside each box was a different jungle critter and the musician had only ten minutes to release all six stars.

Giggling nervously, Dougie began the trial and turned himself round to two o’clock.

As he put his head in the box, stick insects fell on his head but he managed to release the star from the hoop using his teeth.

At four o’clock, he faced lots of snakes, but he wiggled the star around several bends and finally released it.

Two hours later on the clock, Dougie was smothered in fly pupae but the star kept his cool and got his third star.

When Ant and Dec asked him what the fly pupae tasted like, he replied: 'Soup!'

Dougie was covered in slime at eight o'clock as hundreds of meal worms and cockroaches poured over his head but he managed to pull the string with his teeth and retrieve the next reward.

At ten o’clock, Dougie faced rats but as they ran around his head he pulled down the fifth star.

The final box was filled with huge spiders but Dougie pressed ahead and won the sixth and final star.

'You smashed it with three minutes still to go,' Dec told him. 'Now you can go back with a peace offering and hopefully improve the mood in camp.'

Dougie then told the hosts that the first thing he wanted to do was go back and have a wash.

'I set myself my own personal challenge of seeing how long I could go without a wash,' he told them.

'I’ve gone four days without washing but the smell was so bad I’ll have to now wash.'

As he made his way back to camp he expressed his happiness at successfully completing the trial.

'The mood in camp at the moment is extremely bummed so I hope this might cheer them up a bit.'

And when he arrived the first thing he did was shout: 'I did it!'

Dougie then ran towards Mark and wrapped his legs around him whilst he lifted him up and cheered.

The group were really pleased that Dougie had completed the challenge, not only because they would be eating a proper dinner but also because it was his birthday and it meant that the mood would be lifted on his special day.
