All female rap trio DaddysGirls are a refreshing new act breaking out from the UK music scene. Bringing back old school soulful sounds from the 90s with passionate lyrical rhymes and a catchy, thought provoking vibe.
Hailing from the hills of North London, the group consists of Mimi and twins Melinda and Melissa. The girls have been close friends for the past 9 years, having met at college and later moved on to the same university.
It was at Brunel University where all the fun started when the trio thought about entering a talent show as a dance act. The twins were very well known for choreographing dance routines during their school years, but due to time constraints and a desire to express themselves through music, the girls decided to rap instead. Although their music was well received on stage, the group were determined to complete their studies. Although they continued to participate in a few university talent shows, it wasnt long before DaddysGirls stopped making music all together.
Three degrees and four years later, DaddysGirls decided to reform and take the group more seriously. With a goal to eventually hit the mainstream market they set out on a journey to complete their first promotional mixtape, Life Begins with Lyrics. With an organic sound influenced by an eclectic mix of Soul, Hip-Hop, Rap, RnB, Jungle and Drum and Bass, DaddysGirls are a cut above the rest. As the UKs only all female r&b/rap collective, they stand proud in their own league. Without the help of attention grabbing gimmicks, DaddysGirls have entered the scene with not just outstanding talent, but beauty, charisma and creative style.
