They were once the preserve of dodgy uncles and children's television presenters. Now though, the Christmas jumper is out and proud - and coming to a High Street near you.
For years the festive knit has been lampooned, condemned as the comedy garment of choice for the seasonal celebrations - but laugh no more. Now, trendsetters from Fearne Cotton to Kelly Rowland are embracing festively patterned sweaters, decked out with dancing reindeer and woven with Nordic motifs.
All of the major high street stores have jumped on the Christmas jumper bandwagon, and the shelves are positively groaning under the weight of red nosed reindeers, perky penguins and flurries of snowflakes.
