From Bridesmaids to Bradley Cooper's wife... Rose Byrne starts filming The Place Beyond The Pines

She’s been cast as Bradley Cooper’s wife in her new film The Place Beyond The Pines and Rose Byrne was yesterday spotted for the first time on set.

The 32-year-old Australian actress looked stunning as she strolled around in costume while holding a newspaper in Schenectady, New York.

Fans gathered around the edge of the set to get a glimpse of the star, who later changed into a different ensemble and was spotted by her trailer.

Byrne stars alongside Ryan Gosling, Eva Mendes and Ray Liotta in the crime drama that’s being directed by Derek Cianfrance – known for his work on Blue Valentine.

The storyline centres around a motorcycle stunt rider [Gosling], who considers committing a crime in order to provide for his wife and child.

But the act puts him on a collision course with a cop-turned-politician Avery Cross [Bradley Cooper].

Ryan Gosling was spotted filming this week with Eva Mendes and has noticeably bulked up for the role.

He has also bleached his hair blonde and covered his body in fake tattoos to look like a hard man.

Gosling worked with director Cianfrance in Blue Valentine too and impressed him so much that Derek wanted him back for another one of his films.

Bridesmaids actress Byrne replaced Greta Gerwig in the film, who was initially slated for the part.

Greta is now instead filming Woody Allen’s comedy The Bop Decameron alongside Jesse Eisenberg, Penelope Cruz and Alec Baldwin.

And she will also appear in films this year including No Strings Attached, Arthur and The Dish and the Spoon.

Meanwhile, Byrne was first noticed in Hollywood through her role as Brad Pitt’s love interest in 2004’s Troy and has since built up her profile in X-Men: First Class, Get Him to the Greek and Bridesmaids.

The Place Beyond The Pines won’t be released until 2013.
